2018 was a great year for my videography work, with a great variety of shoots and videos. I’ve collected some of my favourite shots from the year here –Showreel 2018 from James Polley on Vimeo.
Supporting Adam Ant, this was the biggest gig Babyteeth have played so far, and one of the biggest venues I’ve had the chance to shoot at. Great lighting, and a great performance from the band made this a really fun vid to shoot and edit.
A really fun shoot, and my second collaboration of the year with Babyteeth, this shoot gave me the chance to explore working with black and white, as well as starting to experiment with After Effects as well.
This November I had the great privilege of being part of the video team that followed the work The Abode Project are doing in Kabale, Uganda. Using donations from a variety of club nights and charity fundraising events, the team with Abode have done some brilliant work so far, building a school, orphanage, community centre and barbers for the village, with plans to keep expanding in the new year. A variety of videos using my footage will be gradually released, in the mean time – here’s some of my pictures from the trip.
Taken on film and digital.
Another shoot for Gigwise – full review here.
I’ve been a huge fan of Courtney for a while and managed to catch a few times over the years, but this was my first time seeing her with my camera, at one of her biggest UK shows ever. Shot for Gigwise, full review here.
This was a really fun shoot, working with up and comng West London rapper King Kane, and my 1st time filming with smoke grenades, which came out looking fantastic.
My 1st shoot for Gigwise, California punk band FIDLAR had been on my wishlist for a while, and they didn’t disappoint, kicking off moshpits and crowdsurfers from the 1st track, with a great light show as well – check out the Gigwise review with my pics here.
Here’s my latest video – for London based rockers Babyteeth. This was a pretty challenging shoot as we were filming a very cold warehouse during the snow a few months back – although at least we got to keep out clothes on unlike the star of the video, professional ballet dancer Nicol Edmonds.
A real pleasure to shoot, The Victories have such a great energy and sound I can’t wait to see where they go from here.
